In the formation of partially self-taught, he studied medicine, psychology, biology, journalism and fine arts, and did not complete any of the courses. He began his professional career in the early 1980's, the Educational TV of rio grande do sul, where he was a reporter, presenter, editor, writer, and producer. In 1982, he was one of the founders of the weekly "Quizumba", which mixed fiction and documentary in a language that's quite daring for television to the public of the time.
From 1984 to 1986, he was the director of the Museum of Social Communication in Porto Alegre, brazil. During this same period, José Pedro, Goulart, and Ana Luiza Azevedo, who created the company in Light of the Productions, with which he made his first two short films, and produced by the theater. Since 1986 he has worked in advertising, having directed dozens of commercials for television until the 1990s.
