Jean-Luc Marie Lemoine was born of a French father, Roger Lemoine, a policeman originally from Fountain-Indoor (Mayenne), and his mother a housewife who is of vietnamese origin. He spent a happy childhood in the Essonne department in Morangis, his hometown, in the company of his parents and his big sister Lydia.
