His debut was at det Norske Teatret in 1955, where he worked from 1956 to 1969. Since he was at the national theatre from 1969 to 1975 and again in 1985. He was in Fjernsynsteatret from 1975 to 1979 and chief of the Telemark Theatre in the period 1982 to 1984. He is remembered especially for his interpretation of Vidkun Quisling in Stone Ørnhøis dokudrama "A life – a trial" from 1988. He also appeared in several Norwegian films.
