Ernestine He attended school at the Institute of English ladies, and took against the will of their parents acting lessons. She played theatre and was, at first unnamed, small film roles. In the 1930s and 1940s, she played mostly feisty young women in productions with the Bavarian folk play character.
After her marriage with actor Carl Wery, she retired from acting and wrote from 1943 Film screenplays. As a writer, she often had the Bavarian local color connected. With a total of 22 scenarios, 16 of which were filmed, she was a significant part of the character of the German cinema of the 1950s. She wrote screenplays for the home movies, historical movies, comedies and love movies, where she remained personally little is known. Her husband, Carl Wery played the title roles in The perjury Bauer and Sebastian Kneipp. As her most popular work, the award-winning film drama On the gallows, the love is connected.
In later years, she took up under the name of "Ernestine Wery" on the writing. She wrote several novels, particularly detective novels, the books for the crime series Tatort will have some of their rotation as the basis.
